PROJECT NOTES
- One large boxwood single sphere (Item # 1234889 at 16″ width x 19 5/8″ from Hobby Lobby shown)
- Two smaller green boxwood spheres (Approximately 8″ diameter from Hobby Lobby shown)
- Wire ties to attach the two smaller boxwoods to the large one
- Cricut Air Explore 2
- Two 12 X 12 Standard Grip Mats
- Painter’s Tape
- Heavy white card stock
- Red Permanent Vinyl
- White Permanent Vinyl
- Lights white & multicolored shown (optional)
- Reindeer Antlers & Red Nose (optional)
Instructions: We taped the two 12 x 12 mats together to cut a sleeve with the Cricut out of white card stock our for the pot to sit in. Then we placed the red permanent vinyl on top of it. Cut out two ovals of white permanent vinyl and added them. The pot is 22″ circumference at the top and 19″ circumference at the bottom. The height of the area to be covered on the pot is 5″.
After making the sleeve for the pot, we attached the two 8″ spheres to the large 16″ sphere with wire ties. We used the plastic mesh on the plant to make sure they lined up correctly.
Optional: String a set of twinkling lights onto the topiary. It will take patience but you can tuck the wires underneath the leaves.
Other tips: To get the right size and conical sphere shape to create the sleeve was difficult. The first step was to measure the circumference of the top and bottom of the pot. Then enter the circumferences into the calculator to get the other critical measurements to enter them into the template maker. I used a jpg image to import and then made sure the width matched the height of the pot.

***For a smaller sized topiary try a 9″ boxwood sphere and two 5″ boxwood spheres for the ears with a 6.7″ clay pot painted red. You can use a wide black ribbon for the collar.
